November Technique Day Project 3

Here is my Third favor I created for my November technique day.  I was inspired once more from a project on www.splitcoaststampers.com.  If you ever are at a loss of what to create using Stampin Up product, that is the perfect place to go. 

I hardly used this die last year and so was really interested in using it this year.  Sorry for the dark picture.  I really need a new camera. 

Anyway this would make a perfect giftcard holder if you plan on giving any of those out this year.  :)  I also used the new felt ornaments from the Holiday Mini.  Really glad to use those.  I like to hoard my embellishments a little and am always proud when I actually use something.

November Technique Day Project 2

This is another project from my November Technique Day.  This is a cute candy cane holder.  I made it using the Two Tags Die, small hole punch, ornament punch, and the ornament stamp set.  Super quick and easy to make and would be a cute touch to any gift you are giving them Christmas.

This is a cute favor I found on  www.splitcoaststampers.com.  It uses the Top Note Die, curly label punch, the 1" square punch, and the Tags til' Christmas stamp set.  It can hold all kinds of small candies and is perfect for Christmas.

Thanksgiving Mantel

Happy Thanksgiving!  Here is the mantel I created for the season. 

The banner above is made using a ready-made banner from Michael's (that I got for a dollar!) and then adding some super cute owl stickers that my sister had gotten for me awhile back (and that I was hoarding). This isn't my typical homemade banner, but I appreciated how quickly I was able to put it together and get it up on my mantel. 

These area couple owls I have located at the bottom of the mantel.  The metal owl was an owl I got from my sister for my birthday.  So cute.  She loved it so much that she actually went and got one for herself too.  If you like it, it is at Hobby Lobby. 

This last piece I made last Thanksgiving.  I loved the Spice Cake DSP from Stampin UP.  My husband cut some wood for me and then I learned how to use a new function on my Cricut and Gypsy.  Really had a great time making these cute wood letters.

Thanksgiving sharing

I just have to show off some of the projects my friends have been making for Thanksgiving.  Here are a few:

Check out Sia Vang's cute turkey's! I love how she put the names on the hat.  A little word window punch from Stampin' up!  and there you go.

How about those cute turkey's with googlie eyes?  These turkey's are from create a critter cricut cartridge.  Sia added an adorable  half rosette to the back of the turkey which is a great touch.

The little girl turkey's were a happy mistake.  Sia accidentally cut out a bunch of bows and decided to have female turkey's.  This one was my fave.

My friend Claudia Shaw-Weger made this cute little turkey treat for the Thanksgiving table.  She wrapped a box of milk duds and added punch art.

How about a cute turkey that display's a sweet treat?  

A friend Megge Woolbright made these edible turkey's that look so yummy!!!  She wrote on fb that since she is a vegetarian these are the only turkey's she is eating this year.

Thanksgiving project

As promised I am showing the other project the Bear Creek Community Church kids did at the skilled nursing facility last weekend.  This project was a little different.  We had a lot of kid volunteers that day.  As it was the second project,  I had the kids quickly construct the project and then hand them out to the residents.

 I got the printable from this cute blog called Eighteen25 which is a cute crafty sister blog.  You can check out the printable here.  Now don't judge me as I could have constructed the printable with MDS.  Baby steps as I am still trying to figure out the program.  Soon, soon. :-)

Check out the stamping on the bottom.  Very easy and fun.

How about some fall leaves with a little embossing.  I used retired ribbon.  It was just sitting in my ribbon pile looking so shimmery.  Add some wire and coil it and you are done.

 We had limited space and had to stand to craft.  It was fun and I think that I have a great group of helpers don't you think?  A big thanks to my friend Joannie for letting me run with the crafts this month.

Sympathy card for a pet

My friend Renee asked me to make a sympathy card for her son's family that lost a dog this past week.  It was a heartbreaking story.  Here is the card I made:

Harry Potter Inspired Classroom

It's that time of year to decorate classrooms and get kids excited about learning.  One of the ways many of us teachers get excited about teaching is by decorating our classrooms.  There are a ton of themes out there, but the one that I have seen recently is a theme that is close to my heart- HARRY POTTER! One of my co-workers has had a Harry Potter themed classroom for the last couple years and each year he adds a new element to the room.  If I was a student in his room I would love to stare at all the awesome elements of Harry that he has added.  Here are a couple pictures...I will keep adding as he is still working on the room.  Can't wait to see what else he comes up with.

 Here is the Magic Shop where students can purchase different Magical Potions that they earn.  Each potion is something they can apply to class.  My co-worker has come up with an awesome way to rewards students and he didn't have to purchase anything!  Amazing!

 There is Polyjuice Potion (trade seats with another student), Memory Modifier (Homework Pass), Baby Dragon Popcorn (Popcorn), and Montezuma's Revenge (Bathroom Pass). 

 Freeze Time, Exile, Invisibility Cloak, and Massive Earthquake...

 These top potions are hard to earn and will possibly take students all year to earn, but seem like they would definitely be worth it!  Permanent PolyJuice, Berty Bott's Jelly Beans,

 My co-worker has also hung up fabric on the ceiling to represent the different houses- Griffendor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. 

 Students can earn points for their different houses just like Hog Warts!

I think Rita Skeeter has left her floating quill behind.  The quill hangs from the ceiling using fishing line and a magnet.  Students will tell my co-worker that they see the line and his reply is simple "No you don't." Hilarious! 

Veteran's Day Outreach

My church goes to Skilled Nursing Facilities twice a month and our children's worship team will sing for the residents and we will do a craft.  My friend Joanie asked me to organize a craft this month.  I ended up using some of my old paper that I had lying around and some of my Stampin' Up! supplies.

We have had requests for decorations for doors.  How about a little door hanger?   My friend Joanie gave me a cute little picture out of her craft magazine and add together with a cute die cut top-note with stars and strips. 

Here are the residents making the craft with kids in between helping them.  I couldn't have done the craft without their help.

Here is my daughter Cailynne with a resident.  My daughter enjoyed helping with the craft.  How cute are they?

Here is the singers.  They are singing God Bless America and songs that show how proud we are for military that defend our country.  Stay tuned for another project we did.

Fabulous apron...

What a beautiful apron!

I received the awesome apron from my friend Wendy Benjamin in Oregon.  She knows I love owls and when she saw this fabric she had to make something for me and why not an apron???

Wendy is a friend that I email with everyday.  I was having a bad couple weeks there- house broken into, students being bad, we bid for a house and lost out, etc.  I was not in a happy place, so she told me she was sending me a surprise in the mail.  And who doesn't love to receive anything in the mail that doesn't resemble a bill???  Needless to say I can't wait to wear this super cute apron as I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner.  I am going to look so cute.  (I didn't look so cute when taking the pictures, so that is why you do no see my face.  :)  

Wendy is an awesome seamstress and owns a sewing machine store in Oregon called The Sewing Room.  If you are in the area or even want to ship your machine for a tune-up, get fixed, or even would like to purchase a machine she does work with out of state customers all the time.  She has some of the best deals on Bernina (sp?).

This is the cute card that Wendy made for me to go with my apron.  She loves to be paper crafty too! What a talented lady!!!

Happy Birthday Kjerste!

It is my niece's birthday and she is an artist in so many ways.  She and I share a love for jewelry making.  I had this idea that I would make her card something jewel-like.  But totally switched it up.

How about something sweet for my sweet niece?  I think I am craving something sweet like cupcakes!  I even made the card base the color of a chocolate bar.

This is a directive - EAT A CUPCAKE.

I hope my niece had a great 15th birthday- she is awesome!

Onesie favor...

This little cutie was made by my friend Sia Vang.  She had a Winnie-the-pooh baby shower this past weekend for her sister-in-law.  She bought the Tags, Bags, boxes, and more 2 cricut cartrige from Cricut.  Seriously, this is on my wish list. 

However, I think that you can make a similar one with using punches and a score-pad.  Some of my Stampin' Up! Friends know what a 2-4-6-8 box is and then you create a onesie out of punch art.

Craftin' with sissy...

Okay, I planned a little craftin' time with my sister this past weekend.  I had an idea for a banner for her mantel.  Since I don't have one, I took over hers.  Andrea was so tired after a day of shopping, she went with it.

Fun, right?  This is the mock mantel decoration for Christmas.  Andrea is going to do a Thanksgiving mantel for real right now, but we were jumping ahead a little because I have Christmas on my mind.

Okay, I just have to share my sister and my shopping experience.  I made her take some pics.

We have been totally cracking up over the Chanel no. 5 commercial featuring Brad Pitt.  I made Andrea take this picture.  Don't get us wrong, we are total fans of Brad Pitt ; ).

Also, we were playing a little while shopping, because I don't know about you but... what is going on with the style right now?  Seriously, I don't get it.  My sister and I laugh that we are officially old ladies because we just don't want to buy skinny jeans in melon mambo, summer starfruit, or gumball green.

Who wears this?  Ear muff feathers?  Really?  Last time I checked feathers seem light and fluffy.  How will they stand up to the elements? The beret has matching feather on top. For real!

Pat Benatar wants her pleather jacket back and so she can sing, "We are strong.."

The only strong part of the jacket? They really accentuate certain attributes up top.  Hey, I may want to buy one!  Also, next to the jacket were black pleather pants.  What???? I wanted to buy a pair and have my family dress up like the matrix for the Christmas family photo.  I could pair the pants with the jacket.  What do you think?
